Why this topic is relevant

The automotive industry is in the midst of a transformation toward e-mobility. Flawless weld seams in battery production are essential for the reliability and safety of electric vehicles. Pure 2D or 3D inspection often reaches its limits.

However, the combination of 2D and 3D inspection methods enables significantly more efficient defect detection, better process reliability, and thus higher manufacturing quality.

EALA 2025 – European Automotive Laser Applications

Automation W+R is taking part in EALA 2025 – European Automotive Laser Applications.

The Automotive Circle conference will take place on 4 and 5 February 2025 in Bad Nauheim and is dedicated to the latest developments and applications of laser technology in automotive production.

Every year, the EALA brings together an international audience of experts from the automotive and laser technology industry. The main topics of the conference include

The focus of the EALA Expert Conference

On February 7-8, 2023, the Automotive Circle’s EALA 2023 conference, which focuses on all laser-based processes in automotive production, will once more bring together its community and network of international expert engineers to examine the most recent technological advancements and new application possibilities of lasers in all conceivable automotive production processes.

One, but not the only, specific focus of the conference program is the advancement of various electromobility-related laser beam welding applications, with their unique demands on precision, speed, and mixed-material-weldability – whether it be in the battery case, battery modules, power electronics, e-motor, or fuel cells.

With a total of 23 technical presentations, other conference highlights include new and better advances in beam modulation and beam shaping, the use of artificial intelligence to weld quality control, laser-based process/geometry management, and many more.

We were exhibitors at Automatica 2022

After a long forced break, we also decided to exhibit again at Automatica 2022.

As in the years before, we again had the booth in hall B5 with booth number 301.
The numbers speak for themselves, there were about 28,000 visitors from 75 countries and 547 exhibitors from 35 countries.
One of our strengths is the cooperation with our sister company Boll Automation, which brings in the robotic and we as Automation W+R bring in the optical inspection.

Together we can optimize and automate your complete process cycle.
That’s why this year we decided to have three different exhibits with three different brands of robots. Our first exhibit was an XTS conveyor in combination with an ABB Cobot that performed an optical surface inspection. Our second exhibit was our Fanuc RoboMill, a polishing robot that can polish surfaces without programming knowledge, and the third exhibit was a Kuka Cobot that can also be easily set up without programming knowledge.
